Laguna Water Supports Laguna Inter-LGU Governor’s Cup 2017

The Laguna Inter-LGU Governor's Cup aims to establish harmonious relationship among all the cities and municipalities in the Province of Laguna, including the Provincial Government.

Laguna Water supported the Laguna Inter-LGU Governor's Cup 2017 of the Provincial Government of Laguna (PGL), which officially opened last May at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.

The Governor's Cup 2017 aims to promote unity, establish camaraderie, and build harmonious relationships among the local government units (LGU) across the Province.

This season, 26 teams will battle for the championship title. These are Alaminos, Bay, Biñan, Cabuyao, Calamba, Cavinti, Famy, Kalayaan, Liliw, Los Baños, Luisiana, Lumban, Magdalena, Nagcarlan, Paete, Pagsanjan, Pangil, Pila, Rizal, San Pablo, San Pedro, Santa Cruz, Santa Maria, Santa Rosa, Victoria, and PGL.

Adding to the excitement during the Opening Ceremony was the Best Muse competition and the Three-point Shootout. Santa Rosa's Mary Joi Pasion emerged as the 2017 Best Muse followed by Chariss Jedidiah Gusay of Liliw as the first runner-up and Maegan Faye Agoncillo of the Provincial Government of Laguna as the second runner-up. Jason Tuazon from LGU Sta. Cruz won the three-point shootout, defeating last year's winner, Fritz Del Rosario of Biñan, by one point.

The ceremonial toss led by Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez, Laguna Water Regulatory and External Affairs Head Mark Mesina, and the representatives from each team marked the official start of the Laguna Inter-LGU Governor's Cup 2017.

The opening ceremony was immediately followed by four games, which featured Provincial Government of Laguna (Laguna Blue Warriors) vs San Pablo; Biñan vs Los Baños; Calamba vs Sta. Cruz, and Rizal vs Famy. After the games, Laguna Blue Warriors defeated San Pablo, 86-70; Biñan toppled Los Baños, 87-63; Calamba outlasted Sta. Cruz, 70-66; and Rizal capped off the opening games with a win against Famy, 77-68.

Organized by the Kings of the Court, games are scheduled every Wednesday, from 1:00 pm- 7:00 pm.
