Laguna Water Brings Mobile Lakbayan And Toka-Toka to Biñan

Movement to Save the Environment. Laguna Water, along with DILG 4A, Binan City’s LGOO, CENRO, and PNP, leads the Pledge of Commitment to save the environment.

"Ang bayan ng Biñan ay catch basin hindi lamang ng tubig kundi pati na ng mga basura mula sa ibang bayan," said Rodel V. Lee, Biñan City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Head.

Last April 16, Laguna Water brought its environmental campaign and advocacy programs, Mobile Lakbayan and Toka-Toka, to the City of Biñan in support of the latter's initiative to preserve and protect its water resources covering local waterways and large bodies of water like the Laguna de Bay and Manila Bay from environmental pollution.

With the growing concern on the vast effects of environmental degradation, Mobile Lakbayan addresses the need to raise public awareness about the protection and preservation of water resources. The program, which originated from Manila Water, presents the different processes involved in bringing clean, safe, and reliable water to customers' homes.

Toka-Toka, on the other hand, is the company’s advocacy campaign for used water management. It encourages people from different sectors to help in maintaining cleanliness of water systems through the observance of simple acts such as proper garbage disposal and desludging of household septic tanks every 5-7 years.

During the event, Provincial Director of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 4A Marita Del Valle, Biñan City Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) Loyola Virina, CENRO Head Rodel V. Lee, and Barangay Casile Captain Christopher Santos and Barangay Poblacion representative Adelynn Alfonso signed the Toka-Toka's Commitment to the Environment along with Laguna Water's External Affairs Manager Ana Martir.

Biñan City residents and volunteers from the City's Philippine National Police and Linis Ilog placed their names on the Mobile Lakbayan Pledge Tree as part of their participation in the protection and preservation of the environment.

Laguna Water is a successful public-private partnership between the Provincial Government of Laguna and Manila Water Philippine Ventures, a wholly-owned company by Manila Water Company Inc. (Manila Water), the Ayala-led water service provider in the East Zone of Metro Manila and a leader in the water industry in the Philippines, with presence in Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia.
