Laguna Water Set to Expand Services to Entire Laguna Province

Laguna Water, the biggest water service provider in Laguna, is set to expand its services to the whole Province of Laguna, as joint venture partners, the Provincial Government of Laguna and Manila Water Philippine Ventures, recently signed an amendment to its concession agreement that authorizes the company to bring its services beyond the cities of Sta. Rosa, Biñan, and Cabuyao.

Apart from increasing the water company’s territorial scope, the amendment indicates the inclusion of the provision of used water services, as well as the establishment of sewage and septage management systems in the province.

According to Governor Ramil Hernandez of the Province of Laguna, this action signifies the commitment of the Provincial Government to uplift the lives of its constituents by making potable water and sanitation services accessible to all. This amendment will support plans and projects for health, infrastructure, agriculture and more set for the area.

Meanwhile, Laguna Water President Virgilio C. Rivera, Jr. recognized its partner’s support in enhancing and developing a concession model that would favor , clean, safe and reliable water supply as well as improved sanitation services for the province.

The joint venture company has been instrumental in providing access to 24/7 piped water in the cities of Binan, Cabuyao, and Sta. Rosa, delivering 120 million liters of potable water per day. Since it took over operations in 2009, water service coverage has increased to 62% from only 14%.
